The conference supports 13 sports: baseball, basketball, cross country, equestrian, football, golf, gymnastics, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, track & field, and volleyball. The LSU Tigers football program, also known as the Fighting Tigers, represents Louisiana State University in college football. The SEC has added members twice: Arkansas and South Carolina in 1991, and Missouri and Texas A&M in 2012.
